Hi, I’m Darlene, and I am 88 years old.
I moved to CAREWELL about a year ago after living in a villa in Laguna. Following a serious fall, it became clear to my family and me that I needed more consistent support in my daily life, as well as reliable care. I had help at home for several years, but over time we realized that a different solution would better suit my needs. The next natural step for me was moving into an assisted living environment with professional support.
My son Dennis, who lives here in Phuket, began searching for suitable options and found CAREWELL online. I have a long-term healthcare insurance policy from the United States, which I had contributed to for many years. Because I am living in Thailand, the approval process was a bit more detailed, but eventually I was able to move to CAREWELL.

One of the things I appreciate most is that I was able to move into my own private villa. I could bring my furniture and create a space that truly feels like home. I also brought my cat, Lucky, which was very important to me. She is also well looked after by the care team.
Since moving here, professional physiotherapy has made a significant difference in my life. After complications from a previous hip surgery, I experienced ongoing discomfort and recurring pain for quite some time. At CAREWELL, I can receive physiotherapy according to my individual needs, which has made a real difference for me. Through regular therapy sessions—both in-house and through aquatherapy in the pool as part of my rehabilitation—I have made great progress. My mobility has improved significantly, I have less pain, and I feel much more confident and stable.
Even with the support and care provided here, I remain independent and can actively manage my daily life. I can go out on my own, meet my family, go shopping, or enjoy meals outside whenever I want. At the same time, I have the reassurance that help and care are always available whenever I need them.
The staff are very kind and attentive. I feel very well cared for and supported, and the overall atmosphere is especially warm and personal.
Living in Thailand has also been a very good decision for me. Having family nearby is something I truly appreciate, and at the same time, I feel well supported and comfortable in my daily life here.
